Other TE Moves - Fantasy Impact

Free Agent Signings

Austin Hooper Signs With Patriots

Hooper hasn’t really hit the highs that were hoped for him since leaving the Falcons at the end of 2019. Last season he struggled to get involved in the offense at all, with just 25 receptions. For fantasy, you can’t hope for much (anything?) here.

Chris Manhertz Signs With Giants

Manhertz isn’t a great receiving TE, but he is an effective blocker. This signing should help Devin Singletary more than anything

Gerald Everett Signs With Bears

Everett struggled with the Chargers to be consistent. The Chargers had Ekeler and Allen as target hogs which didn’t leave a lot left for everyone else. The Bears have been tooling up their offense, including Keenan Allen following from the Chargers. With Cole Kmet already in place though, it’d take something special for Everett to be fantasy relevant here.

Harrison Bryant Signs With Raiders

Bryant was the type of player that used to spring up to score a TD and then disappear (for fantasy). Hard to know what he is going to be able to do in this Raiders offense that already has Michael Mayer who looked good in his rookie season.

Hayden Hurst Signs With Chargers

Hurst becomes the second TE that the Chargers have signed this offseason. Missed a lot of time due to concussion-related issues last season, so it remains to be seen if he can still be effective. But, he was able to be an effective receiver when given the opportunity.

Hunter Henry Signs With Patriots

Henry was one of the few effective offensive weapons the Patriots had through the air last season. Bringing him back makes sense, with the team letting Gesicki leave. With the turnover the team have had on offense, he could have some streaming appeal again this season.

Irv Smith Jr Signs With Chiefs

It’s never happened for Smith, who struggled with injuries with the Vikings and then struggled to be involved with the Bengals. With Kelce in place, it’s hard to see Smith as anything other than a player who will rarely contribute.

Mike Gesicki Signs With Bengals

Gesicki hasn’t been fantasy relevant for a while. His best seasons were in 2020 and 2021, but since he has struggled. Became a redzone weapon to finish his Miami career, and didn’t manage to make any real impact for the Patriots. The Bengals have a need at TE, but think Gesicki could struggle here.

Noah Fant Signs With Seahawks

Fant returns to the Seahawks, but has reduced competition for targets at TE. Parkinson has signed for the Rams, and Dissly has signed with the Chargers. Still fourth read in the offense, but will have some streaming appeal this season.

Will Dissly Signs With Chargers

The Chargers are making big changes to their offense. They’ve allowed Ekeler and Allen to leave, Everett signing with the Bears and cutting Mike Williams. Dissly had some TD-heavy seasons with the Seahawks, and he could have some value in this new-look Chargers offense. Late round ticket, but more likely to be a streaming option for 2024.
