Trust or Bust Fantasy Playoffs 2024

The time has come, the time we’ve all been waiting for…the fantasy playoffs. If you made the playoffs, congratulations. If not, I’m sorry, you’ve always got next year. I won’t waste too much time on the intro like I usually do, so let’s get after it.

Inside/ Outside Picks

QB Josh Allen (BUF)

Current Ranking 1st

Ok, I know having Allen on this list is CRAZY after his 6 touchdown performance last week and obviously you’re never sitting Josh Allen, but for context Josh Allen has almost as many rushing touchdowns (9) than the Detroit Lions have allowed to quarterbacks all year (13) yes, you read that right. The Detroit Lions have allowed a total of 13 touchdowns all season to quarterbacks! That’s insane!

Who I like More

QB Kirk Cousins (ATL)

Week ranking 24th!?

Cousins has probably screwed you more times than not this season and not throwing a touchdown in his last 4 games likely caused you to miss the playoffs and never trust him again. But, we can’t hold grudges in fantasy and in a juicy matchup versus the Raiders who have given up the second most passing touchdowns (24) I’m asking you to give Cousins one more chance. I believe Kirk’s touchdown drought ends this week.

RB De'Von Achane (MIA)

Current Ranking 6th

Achane has been on a tear lately averaging over 20 points per game and as the RB3 during that span he’s been someone fantasy players are lucky to have in their lineups on a weekly basis. As bad as the Texans defense has been this season, however their run defense has been above average and it just so happens where they really excel is limiting RBs passing game. The Texans defense is top 5 in receptions (45), yards, and touchdowns (2). That’s bad news for Achane seeing as how more than half his points (81) have come via the pass over the last 4 games.

Who I like More

RB Rico Dowdle (DAL)

Week ranking 14th

Dowdle has been a nice surprise the last month of the season and the fantasy managers who were patient enough to hold on to him are being rewarded. Averaging over 15 PPG Dowdle is finally getting the touches he deserves and now he gets a chance to continue his hot streak against a Panthers defense that gives up almost 30 PPG to running backs. Not to mention they’ve given up the most rushing touchdowns this season as well.

WR Justin Jefferson (MIN)

Current Ranking 5th

With only 6 WR1 weeks so far in 2024, seeing Jefferson sit inside the top 3 of wide receivers is somewhat of a surprise. Especially when you consider the emergence of his teammate Jordan Addison during that span. Addison has more targets, yards, receptions, and touchdowns. The matchup isn’t bad, but the chemistry between Darnold and Addison is undeniable.

Who I like More

WR Jerry Jeudy (CLE)

Week Ranking 20th

If you have Jerry Jeudy, congratulations, if you don’t, I’m sorry. With two top 5 finishes and two top 24 finishes over the last month Jeudy looks like a league winner in 2024. Jameis Winston has helped Jeudy with his career resurgence and with their Week 15 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs and Charles Tillman and David Njoku being out this week, Jeudy will be the beneficiary of a passing attack that is averaging 43 pass attempts since Winston took over.

TE Mark Andrews (BAL)

Current Ranking 9th

Look by this point we all know tight ends are hit or miss most weeks, Andrews has started to show out with 3 top 12 weeks in his last 4 games played. But, like most tight ends Andrews needs a touchdown to get you there and the only week he didn’t finish as a top 12 tight end, he didn’t score a touchdown. And, here we are in Week 15 and the Giants defense has held tight ends to ONE touchdown. Do with that what you will.

Who I like More

TE Kyle Pitts (ATL)

Week Ranking 18th

Like his teammate Kirk Cousins, you probably stopped putting Pitts in your lineup a while ago and for good reason, the guy hasn’t scored more than 8 points since Week 8! But, as bad as the Raiders defense is against quarterbacks, they’re almost as bad against tight ends too. I know it’s hard to trust Pitts, but in the playoffs, we gotta get crazy and do weird things. Also, we can’t hold grudges either. Pitts is a ceiling play this week. Just close your eyes and go for it.

That’s gonna do it for this week’s piece. I hope you found the info useful and actionable. For all my new readers, I am an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. If you like the Cowboys or just enjoy football in general, I know you’d enjoy this podcast.
