Trust or Bust Week 7 2024

As of Monday night the NFL season is officially a third of the way done. As the saying goes ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ if you’re a Cowboys fan like me you were not having fun as David Montgomery and the Detroit Lions steamrolled you at home and on Jerry Jones birthday no less (Happy belated, Jerry). David Montgomery wasn’t the only RB having fun on Sunday after scoring two touchdowns, but 17 other running backs scored touchdowns in Week 6 and in addition to Montgomery 4 running backs scored multiple touchdowns. It was nice to see Bijan Robinson find the end zone FINALLY! And for anyone who picked up Sean Tucker, congratulations! Yes, 2024 is the year of the running back and whether it be proven veterans like Derrick Henry and Alvin Kamara or popular ZeroRB targets like Chuba Hubbard and J.K. Dobbins, it’s nice to see the RB position have fantasy relevance once again. Week 5 was the first week of bye and as the season goes on whether it be injuries or bye weeks, our lineup decisions become that much more critical.

So, without further ado I present to you this Week 7 Trust or BUST picks of the week.

Inside/ Outside Picks

QB Kyler Murray (ARI)

Current Ranking 9th

Kyler Murray hasn’t been the fantasy darling we thought he’d be in 2024…so far. Yes, he sits inside the top 12 quarterback rankings for the season, but he’s scored 20 or more points twice and 15 or less 3 times. Not to mention his rushing stats leave much to be desired as he’s only scored 1 rushing touchdown this season. I trust Kyler and the Cardinals offense to figure things out, just not this week. The Chargers have been a tough matchup for all quarterbacks allowing less than 13 PPG and having as many interceptions (5) as passing touchdowns allowed.

Who I like More

QB Andy Dalton (CAR)

Week ranking 20th

After a rough fantasy outing in Week 5 versus a stout Bears defense, Andy Dalton righted the ship with his third top 20 performance this season. Facing the Commanders and their bottom 5 pass defense, I expect Dalton to have his 4th top 20 finish of the season seeing as how quarterbacks average almost 19 PPG in their matchups with the Commanders. Allowing the second most passing touchdowns this season with 12, Dalton is a sneaky pick to finish inside the top 15.

RB Tony Pollard (TEN)

Current Ranking 19th

The Tennessee Titans were active in free agency adding Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley thinking Will Levis would take the next step, unfortunately Levis hasn’t taken the next step and the Titans offense has suffered the consequences. Pollard has been the one reliable piece in the mess that is the Tennessee offense with four top 20 finishes so far in 2024. On paper the Bills present a matchup most running backs would take advantage of, but most teams don’t have Will Levis at quarterback and with no real threat of a passing game, the Bills can stack the box and force Will Levis to beat them.

Who I like More

RB Brian Robinson Jr. (WAS)

Week ranking 19th

Scoring 5 touchdowns in 5 games played Robinson has been everything fantasy players have drafted him to be and with an average of 15 touches per game Ekeler hasn’t eaten into Robinson’s workload like many thought he would. Coming back from a knee injury suffered in Week 5, Robinson missed Week 6, but he’s making his return at the perfect time with the Carolina Panthers on deck. The Panthers defense is the worst run defense in the league as opposing running backs are feasting on a Panthers unit that’s allowed 12 rushing touchdowns already this season.

WR Ja'Marr Chase (CIN)

Current Ranking 2nd

This has nothing to do with Chase and to be honest this matchup isn’t bad, however as bad as Cleveland is teams aren’t running up the score when they play the Browns and the average point total of every Browns game so far this season is 39! With the 4th lowest projected point total (41.5) the Bengals offense won’t have to do too much this week and therefore limiting Chase’s ceiling. Out of 6 games played this year only Malik Nabers and A.J. Brown have top 12 fantasy weeks, every other receiver has finished outside the top 24.

Who I like More

WR Darnell Mooney (ATL)

Week Ranking 26th

Darnell Mooney and Drake London have been a match made in Heaven, ok…maybe not for Kyle Pitts, but you know what I mean. Atlanta looks to have gotten a steal in Mooney who has been one of Kirk Cousins favorite targets and is currently a top 20 fantasy receiver. Averaging over 7 targets per game and over 60 receiving yards Mooney is a high upside WR2, with 8 receptions that have gone for 20 or more yards Mooney is a big play waiting to happen. Now he gets a Seahawks team that’s given up 15 plays of 20 or more yards, Mooney is in for a big day.

TE Dalton Kincaid (BUF)

Current Ranking 11th

Another off-season darling for the fantasy community, Kincaid hasn’t lived up to the off-season hype. Tied for 6th most targets among tight ends with 31 targets, the volume has been there for Kincaid, but the production has yet to follow. With only one touchdown this season, the addition of Amari Cooper, and a collarbone injury that isn’t a recipe for success against an underrated Titans secondary that’s number defense against tight ends in 2024.

Who I like More

TE Mark Andrews (BAL)

Week Ranking 15th

With back to back games of 50 receiving yards and scoring his first touchdown, is Mark Andrews….back? Fantasy players have been waiting for Andrews to return to form and after 6 weeks, the Ravens tight end looks to have found his groove. Facing a Buccaneers team that’s been solid when facing tight ends allowing over 10 PPG but zero touchdowns. With a 50 point projected point total, Andrews could have his first breakout game of 2024.
