UK Fantasy League #UKFL

The question of the origin of the UKFL has been asked a few times.

The league grew from the fact that there is obviously the Scott Fish bowl in the US, and while the love of NFL (and in particular Fantasy Football) hasn’t reached that level in this country. I thought there was going to be some kind of demand for some large scale league. So I came up with the original idea to have a best ball mix and salary cap league.

The idea was pretty basic. You’d have a salary cap and have to choose a lineup with that budget. However, after speaking to Ben about it he said we should just try and make a traditional draft style league. He got a logo designed and sketched out how he though the playoffs would work and we had the seeds of the league!

We set up a Twitter page and went to the world with our idea. Over the weekend we got so many signups we had to go back to the drawing board and redesign the playoff picture. We ended up filling 240 slots in year one! Considering this was a brand new idea just a few months before to get the number of people we got sign up was incredible. We are hoping that the league grows each year, so make sure you signup to play!

Part of what makes this league special is the commitment we have to charity- we are collecting for Cancer Research UK. We hope that participants will help us in raising as much money as possible for this great cause.

Now you know the origin of the UKFL head over the signup page and get involved.

Best of Luck this season,

Rich & Ben
