Week 8 Streaming Options

Bye weeks and injuries galore, we’re all looking to fill in the holes on our roster for Week 8 with streaming options. Here are my favorite streaming options of the week. The order in which these players are listed is the order in which I would start them for this upcoming week.

Week 8 QB Streaming Options

Desmond Ridder (ATL) @ TEN

ESPN 71%, Yahoo 6%, Sleeper 19%

After a slow start to the season, Ridder has shown over the last few weeks why the Falcons have stuck through his growing pains as a passer. Ridder is still committing turnovers at too high of a rate, but he’s also been moving the ball downfield much better over the last few weeks. Turnovers aren’t majorly detrimental for fantasy, and I expect Ridder to continue building on his success this week against a Titans defense that has struggled against the pass over the last two seasons. If it wasn’t for Ridder lackadaisically fumbling at the one-yard line a week ago, he would’ve finished as a top-8 fantasy QB for the 3rd week in a row.

Derek Carr (NO) @ IND

ESPN 20%, Yahoo 36%, Sleeper 36%

This Saints offense has been frustrating to watch this season despite a plethora of weapons at Derek Carr’s disposal. It feels as if Carr is constantly checking the ball down to Alvin Kamara, who is on pace to break the running back receptions record despite missing 3 games. That being said, this Colts defense has been atrocious so far this season and I don’t expect them to be able to handle New Orleans’ pass-catchers. I expect Carr to throw for over 300 yards and to see some positive regression when it comes to touchdown passes.

Bryce Young (CAR) v HOU

ESPN 10%, Yahoo 11%, Sleeper 24%

Young had a slow start to the season, but he seemed to be acclimating himself to the NFL nicely over his last 2 starts. With a new playcaller in Carolina and with a week to prepare for Houston, I expect Young to continue taking steps forward with a point to prove against No. 2 overall pick CJ Stroud on Sunday.

Players to Start if they are still on your waivers (in order):

  • CJ Stroud (HOU) @CAR
  • Kirk Cousins (MIN) @GB
  • Jared Goff (DET) v LV

Week 8 RB Streaming Options

Devin Singletary (HOU) @ CAR

ESPN 32%, Yahoo 20%, Sleeper 26%

Singletary saw a ton of carries for Houston between the 20s the last time the Texans played in week 6. He saw 5 carries inside the redzone and had 14 opportunities in total while leading the team in snap % at the running back position. We’ll find out this week whether or not this is a trend for the Houston backfield or a simple blimp on the radar, but either way I expect him to be efficient with his touches against a porous Carolina run defense.

Chuba Hubbard (CAR) v HOU

ESPN 43%, Yahoo 59%, Sleeper 63%

Hubbard is another running back who may be stealing the starting job in his backfield after an inefficient start to the season for Miles Sanders. Hubbard has been the better back so far in Carolina and took advantage of his starting role with Sanders out with injury in Miami in week 6. This will be a significant situation to monitor this week, but I’m quite confident that Hubbard can be efficient with however many touches he receives against Houston.

Emari Demercado (ARI) v BAL

ESPN 37%, Yahoo 33%, Sleeper 42%

Demercado was a popular waiver pickup 2 weeks ago following James Conner’s injury, but was dropped by many fantasy teams after a committee approach was used by Arizona the following week. Demercado bounced back and was the lead back for Arizona in Week 7, seeing 80% of snaps and 18 opportunities. There’s not much upside in this matchup against Baltimore in Week 8 with Josh Dobbs still starting at quarterback for Arizona, but we can feel good about Demercado’s volume until James Conner returns.

Pierre Strong (CLE) @ SEA

ESPN 5%, Yahoo 11%, Sleeper 17%

Strong saw 8 carries following Jerome Ford’s ankle injury he suffered early in Week 7. There’s a chance that Ford still plays on Sunday, and if that’s the case then Strong shouldn’t be considered here. I expect him to see a decent amount of carries if Ford is ruled out.

Players to Start if they are still on your waivers (in order):

  • Gus Edwards (BAL) @ARI
  • Kareem Hunt (CLE) @SEA
  • Darrell Henderson (LAR) @DAL
  • Justice Hill (BAL) @ARI

Week 8 WR Streaming Options

Kendrick Bourne (NE) @ MIA

ESPN 35%, Yahoo 43%, Sleeper 53%

Every time Kendrick Bourne gets significant opportunities for this Patriots team he seems to produce at a high level. In all 3 games that Bourne has played over 90% of snaps for New England this season he has finished as a top-18 WR, with 2 of those performances coming over the last 2 weeks. I expect Bourne to keep seeing targets as New England continues to find its identity on offense. The Patriots should be forced to pass early and often in Miami this weekend.

Rashid Shaheed (NO) @ IND

ESPN 18%, Yahoo 35%, Sleeper 34%

Shaheed may not be the most consistent fantasy football producer, but he’s one of the most efficient receivers in the league with over 16 yards per catch this season. His snap rate has increased over the last two weeks, playing 76% and 70% of snaps in the last two contests. There’s big play potential for Shaheed against a struggling Indianapolis secondary this week.

Curtis Samuel (WAS) v PHI

ESPN 45%, Yahoo 49%, Sleeper 59%

The last time Washington played Philadelphia, Samuel saw 8 targets and had a rushing attempt for a touchdown. Samuel has been involved in the offense all season, with only one game with less than 4 targets on the year. Philadelphia’s defense has a solid reputation, but has actually allowed the 4th most points to wide receivers in fantasy football this season.

Josh Reynolds (DET) v LV

ESPN 22%, Yahoo 38%, Sleeper 43%

Josh Reynolds will stay on these lists as long as he keeps seeing the majority of the snaps on the outside for this potent Lions offense. Reynolds hasn’t produced over the last two weeks, but he should have an easier time this week in a dome against Las Vegas. He’s a solid possession receiver that should see more redzone opportunities with the absence of running back David Montgomery.

Players to Start if they are still on your waivers (in order):

  • Tank Dell (HOU) @CAR
  • Josh Downs (IND) v NO

Week 8 TE Streaming Options

Michael Mayer (LV) @ DET

ESPN 6%, Yahoo 18%, Sleeper 24%

The hype for Mayer going into Week 7 didn’t capitulate, but that shouldn’t shy people away from a young and talented player who continues to see his snap count rise. He’ll have Jimmy Garoppollo returning to the lineup in a game against Detroit, who allows the 3rd most fantasy points to tight ends.

Dalton Schultz (HOU) @ CAR

ESPN 74%, Yahoo 68%, Sleeper 69%

Prior to the bye week for Houston in Week 7, Schultz was a top 6 TE for 3 weeks in a row. His targets saw a massive uptick with the absence of Tank Dell from the lineup over the past 2 weeks, and Schultz’s target share should be monitored with Dell returning in Week 8. Regardless, CJ Stroud has looked the part and this Houston offense should allow Schultz plenty of opportunities to find the endzone in Week 8.

Players to Start if they are still on your waivers (in order):

  • Jake Ferguson (DAL) v LAR
